Marketing Gold: Corporate World Riding The Winfrey Wave

Becoming OCF’s (Oprah Corporate Friends) so to speak with Oprah is where you want to be, especially during her final season. There has been plenty of news circulating about Oprah sticking Australia with a hefty bill to help make the upcoming Ultimate Australia Adventure happen. I’m not sure how many days Oprah is planning to tape during their visit just yet. I suspect at least a week, since the show site has not yet opened audience reservations for Australia. But, I think the Aussie businesses are sure to see a spike in revenue with hundreds and potentially thousands of guests from around the globe. Who wouldn’t want to par-take in regional treats, trinkets and tours when you’re on vacation? If I had the cash flow I would be flocking there myself!

72 and rocking IT! Jane cops to having her under eye bags done as well as her skin under her chin. She is dating music producer Richard Perry. “I’m standing on my own two feet.” She tells Oprah that she would rather be on her own two feet instead of falling in love.

It’s a toxic desire to be perfect. “The challenge is not to be perfect its to be whole.” Oprah agrees with Jane when she says it takes works to be whole.

Jane breaks down life stages:

  • Pre 30 = Your First Act – (Oprah says you think you know everything but you know nothing.)
  • 30-59 = Your Second Act – Building & Creating (Jane says, the hardest of all.)  (Oprah points out what would the world be like if everyone thought –How do I become more whole instead of thinking having the idea of getting more, being successful or getting ahead.)
  • 60+ = Your Third Act – Coming Home

Jane talks about how her mother was sexually abused. She she found out from her medical records after her death.

Stats on abuse:

  • 1 in 3 women is abused as a child
  • 1 in 6 boys is abused as a child

The conversation moves on as Jane talks about not being able to show up for her children while they were growing up. Jane shares how she now makes for that lost time with connecting more with her grandchildren.

I love how Jane and Richard say they try to dance every night for as long as 1 hour or as little as 15 minutes.  What a fun couple!
