Ricky Martin is ready to reveal to the world his inner most thoughts about his life and his sexuality. Beside promoting his book on Oprah, the hot latin pop singer talks about being gay and his twin boys. Sadly, for many years Ricky says he felt his emotions were evil. He says he felt as he was not enough. Oprah points out to her viewers that feeling is universal. Everyone feels feel “I’m not good enough.”  Oprah says, “I think if everybody who’s gay would come out, it would change the world!” The audiences applauds as Ricky agrees.

Ricky is parenting his two twin toddlers, and I think a lot of his coming out had to do with them. In his book he writes, “I want to open my heart to them fully and absolutely so that in the future they will never be afraid to do the same.”

Battling Anorexia & Bulimia

Hearing the details of actress Portia De Rossi eating disorder is shocking to me as she reveals eating a maximum of 150 calories a day at one point. I too struggle with weight issues and I’m sure like many have counted their daily in take. I struggle with just eating 1,200 calories. Oprah asks how was it going through eating disorders on TV and Portia says, “It’s actually easy to hide an eating disorder.”

This next quote I pulled from the show is beautiful, and I think many, many people struggle with their likeness. “Sometimes the way you see yourself is not how the world sees you.” Portia mentions how she should try to accept herself because her wife Ellen does. Oprah points out she met the love of her life Ellen at her heaviest weight. After hearing Portia talk about her feelings and experiences, I feel I can most identify with her statement on chronic dieting. “Living your entire life never feeling good enough about your body , always feeling like if you weighed a little less some how you’d be happier, life would be better is a horrible way to live.”  Portia says she found food looses power when you don’t restrict any food or portion size.

Becky wanted to relate to someone after she gave one of her children up for adoption. Becky thought connecting with Diane would help her heal from the pain. She now knows her adopted family is all she needs. Diane would not share the name of Becky’s biological father after Becky asked her in letters.

Pamela Smart

Lisa Ling interviews Pamela Smart in New York at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. Her 15 year old then lover Billy Flin kills her husband Greg Smart. She tells Lisa that she did nothing and was not in any way involved in the killing. She is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Lisa asks what would you say to Billy? Pamela says, “Tell the truth. Tell the truth. But I know he doesn’t care. He’s going home. It’s like he killed somebody and got a way with one way or another.” Lisa ask what about Greg? “I’m sorry.”

Pamela’s mother Linda Wojas sits with Oprah. The jury was not sequester during her daughters trial and says there were 1200 news articles out. She believes her daughter did not get a fair trial. During Pamela’s time in prison she has earned 2 master degrees and helps others. Dr. Eleanor Pam is Pamela Smart’s mentor says she believes absolutely she is innocent. “I think she was punished for sin not the crime.”

One of the jury members Alec Beckett talks to Oprah over WebEx on the show. Alex says, he was out of the country before the trial and did not know about anything from the media. He says the jury did not know the sentence was life.

Dean Smart (Greg’s brother) sent a statement to the Oprah show saying they believe she is guilty and the boys found guilty along with Billy. Pam did not cut a deal and that is why she is serving life.

An amazing hour with the talented Tyler Perry. It’s like no other hour of reality television because Tyler shares the most intimate details of his abuse. What a gift this show is for those who have been sexually abused. It really shocked me what comes out of his mouth. Bless Tyler.

After his mother’s death Tyler Perry is talking about his tormented childhood, and the sexual abuse he had to endure.

The physical abuse came from his father. “It’s hard for me to look at those pictures. I feel like I died as a child.” His aunt Jerry talks about pointing a gun at his father after his father beat him with a vacuum cord. Tyler would escape in his mind to a park. At one point Tyler says, he was suicidal (he slit his wrists.)

Today he is 41 years old, talking about a male neighbor molesting him. There was a man he describes in his past he knew from church. This man from church was his first sexual experience (he performed oral sex on Tyler as a boy.) Another incident happens at age 10. This time it is a female neighbor. “This is so disgusting what these people did to this little boy.”

“My mother was not strong like my aunt.” Tyler talks about loving his mother.

What helped him along the way was he learned “What you feed will grow in your life. And what you don’t will starve.”

Oprah tells the audience that his father is still alive. Tyler provides for his father today by sending him monthly checks, and he pays for his father’s housing. Tyler says, I don’t care what he thinks about this show.

On November 5th, Oprah and Tyler will have a much need discussion with a mostly male studio audience. Together they will help others confront their own truth of sexual abuse.

The lead stars of the 1970 hit mushy movie Love Story take their seats next Oprah. Actress Ali MacGraw talks about her life out the spot light which once included a drinking problem, a divorce and self loathing. Today Ali lives in New Mexico and is celebrating 24 years of sobriety. Then, the actress reflects on the famous line from the movie “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” Ali tells Oprah the line does not make sense and she apologize.

I think the line should have been scripted just the opposite. There is power in the word sorry. What person never completes a wrongful action or says a hurtful word/statement to a friend, relative or lover?

Actor Ryan O’Neal  profoundly speaks about the movie line and reflects on his last days with his real life love Farrah Fawcett. Life resembles art for Ryan as he shares snuggling with Farrah in her hospital bed as he did with Ali in the movie. He also talks about how he can’t watch the movie because life isn’t like that.

During The Farewell Season Oprah often asks her guest to reflect on a photo from the past and answer the question “What would you say to your younger self?” Ryan says, lucky boy, while Ali says, heaven help you.
